Bound the Mound Course (Updated 2/26)
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT (2/26) Please note that we have made an official change to the Bound the Mound course. The loop is still 3.1 miles long and represents a significant improvement over the originally planned course. The change will make for a much more pleasant racing experience as this utilizes mostly dry trails. (much of the originally planned course has remained extremely sloppy). Don't be fooled however; you will still get the opportunity to traverse a couple water obstacles and perhaps some mud here and there. Afterall, it is a trail race so we don't want to take away all the fun!
Like the original plan, this course will be a blast to run. Your feet will never touch the pavement while running this loop. What they will touch is , dirt, grass, mud, water, roots, a couple fallen trees, and lots of gumballs! So in essence, trail racing conditions are perfect! There are a couple spots that you will get to "high-five" your fellow racers if you wish. Both on the levee and about 350 feet of trail by the 2 mile marker. These are spots where there will be "two-way traffic". If you look closely at the pic below you will see the mile markers. There will be signs marking them on race day. Additionally, the course will be clearly marked with bright yellow arrow signs and side trails will be taped off. You will have no problem navigating the 3.1 miles.
For those competing in the 5K, you will simply complete one loop, the 10K, two loops, and the half-mary, four loops PLUS the "out and back" which will be completed after your 4th lap. The half marathon out and back is shown in the 2nd picture below.
